“THINK” – SEQUENTIAL THINKING with colsanjaypande- Post-2

Is there an art of thinking? Think. When 99.99% DNA of human beings is same, what creates so many million differences between human beings? Why is the other person ahead of us? Think.
By the time you finish the series of articles on ‘THINK’ you will realise how much time you have wasted so far. The best part is that it is never too late to start. Even if you start today, you will be way ahead of others. I have successfully practiced the above concepts in life and it works. I intend to write on these aspects under a tag ‘THINK” that essentially takes you through the journey and experience of my life spent in ‘taming’ the mind. At core is our ability to think.
Will take you through the entire process of ‘thinking away to success’.
Sequential thinking is all about lining up thoughts one after another in which no overtaking takes place. It is like a railway train where the person is the engine and each task is a railway bogie. The train runs sequentially likewise the mind runs sequentially. Unless the first bogie after the engine is removed, the next one does not get considered. This is what the human brain is comfortable with. One task at a time. Period.
‘Sequential’ thinking is where the comfort level is the highest. We don’t realise that what gives us comfort is the very reason that we are on a treadmill life. How does your day pass? How does your week start? What do you plan for the week? How do you organise your work? How have you organised your kitchen? How well are you prepared to try any recipe in your kitchen without running to a grocer? How do you organise your studies? How do you prepare for competitive examinations? Do you realise that each moment we spend is for a purpose? Its we who decide what the purpose is. When there is no purpose, we simply say we have no work and relax. When we are stuck at one task, we simply stop working. There may be huge number of pending tasks of importance but we simply stop. We do everything in a sequential way. We just did not train our mind to skip the present task and go to the next one.
Human nature avoids tough choices and is like water. It takes path of least resistance. ‘We will see”, “Dekh lenge” attitude drives our life. If attitude drives our life, when do we get chance to ‘drive’ our life?
Sequential thinking is what we all love. It is the path of least resistance. Doing things sequentially gives us confidence of not missing anything. It convinces us that we are most meticulous. Whether it is studies, cooking, looking after household, work, projects or any other work, our mind remembers ‘everything’. We make ‘To do’ lists and we again give ourselves full marks for being meticulous.
Sequential thinking helps where processes are involved. We cannot skip processes. Our life is not a process. It cannot be run sequentially. Most of us run it that way and that’s why we are where we are and others go ahead.
Life cannot be lived in a sequential way. SEQUENTIAL THINKING IS A SURE SHOT FAILURE. We need to first understand our own style of work and then change our thinking.
We have trained our minds to ‘DO’ but we have not trained it to ‘THINK’. We do not utilise the brain for its properties to handle multiple things. There are tasks connected to dates, events, milestones and mental targets. Each requires attention. Dates pass by and we simply resign to fate. Events pass by and we are not able to complete task. Exams pass by and our syllabus never gets completed. A recipe is left midway since the ingredients were not there. What is common in all of the above? The ‘time’ overtook our thoughts.
It happened because of sequential thinking. We need to change.
More to come on “THINK”:
‘out-of-the-box’
‘simultaneity’
‘foresight’
‘planning’
‘vision’
‘think’
By the time you finish this series of “THINK”, I assure you that you will be supermen/women.
