“THINK” – SIMULTANEITY OF THINKING with colsanjaypande – Post-3
We refuse to ‘think’ but ‘think’ that we take decisions after ‘lot of thinking’. If it was, we would never revisit past actions, but we do. Why? We need to ‘think’ correctly.
Identification of a problem is 90% solution. Putting it right is just a matter of detail thereafter. Post 1 and 2 will bring you to some thinking. How sequential thinking cannot put us on a fast track can be easily understood by very few. What we don’t understand is that sequential thinking leaves huge number of free ‘time pockets’. This is the time, when between two sequential activities, we waste lot of time because by our mind training the chance of the third activity is yet to come. We conveniently tell our brain to ‘wait’ till the track is cleared off by first two activities. We prefer to sit idle while convincing ourselves that it’s the situation that demands break rather than being voluntary. Accepting that you ‘think’ sequentially is 90% ‘identification of problem’.
The Trap of Sequential Thinking
We just fell into the trap of ‘sequential thinking”. This mindset will keep us on a treadmill of life. There will be no progress but only fatigue. Whether it’s our personal life, work, family, studies or anything to do with future, we will always lag behind since there is someone else who ‘thinks’ and does things better than us. All Indian marriages are held with nearly same ceremonies. While one goes on smoothly the other within same family is ‘mother of all chaos’. Why? The other guy got trapped by ‘sequential thinking’.
Post 1 and Post 2 started the journey of thinking. You must go through each post to understand the capabilities of our brain. The two posts so far were:

Enter ‘Simultaneity of Thinking’
This is the ‘winner’. It not only completely takes in the sequential thinking up tasks, it frees up mental space to the level that is beyond imagination. Understanding simultaneity of thinking is easy. Imagine a train with the engine pulling 50 bogies. Each bogie is a ‘task’ to our mind. We have put the train on a ‘track’ called rails. The complete work is sequential. Till the front bogie clears the track, the next bogie just drags on. Priority of bogies (tasks) cannot be changed. It will casus derailment (mental collapse).
Simultaneity is running the train without rail track and ‘SIDEWAYS”. Imagine a huge ground with a start line. The train is so put on it that there are 50 tracks like the 100m sprint ground and each of the 50 bogies are on the start line. There are no priority bogies (tasks). Each is Priority 1. Aim is simple, finish tasks and move the entire lot of 50 bogies simultaneously. Each task must be visited each time review is done. Whether personal or work related, whether studies or all subject within curriculum, gat in habit of breaking every task further till it is indivisible. Treat each task as ‘Priority- 1’. Progress MUST task on each task SIMULTANEOUSLY. Simultaneity is about handling each and every issue simultaneously.
Aim of simultaneous work is to reduce the tasks at a very fast pace. You will realise soon that the long list of the tasks you have are all finished in no time and just few are left. These tasks take slightly more time.
Now mark this 100m sprint track at every 10 meters. Let first line be date. The 10th line is the 10th day.
Alternatively, mark this 100m sprint track at every 10 meters. Let first line be a week. The 10th line is the 10th week.
OR mark this 100m sprint track at every 10 meters. Let first line be a year. The 10th line is the 10th year.
Your tasks are either immediate, midterm, long term or affecting life. List out your complete tasks on this track of ‘simultaneity’. You will realise that in extremely quick succession the tasks reduce giving you free mind space. What you have done is simple – utilised the gaps created by ‘sequential’ thinking and filled up with solving other asks. You just filled your mind with tasks and resolved it.
‘Sequential’ and ‘simultaneity’, both are necessary in life. We cannot be rigid. Being ‘sequential’ is natural but to be ‘simultaneous’ thinker, you require tremendous practice.
The guy-girl ahead of you follows ‘simultaneity’ in thinking and hence looks so much in control.
More to come on “THINK”:
‘out-of-the-box’
‘foresight’
‘planning’
‘think’
By the time you finish this series of “THINK”, I assure you that you will be superman/woman.
